- Title: Computer Hardware Technician
- The Objective : To maximise the
potential of Logic Computers.
- The Role: The PC technician will work
with other technical staff to install and image new PC's, notebooks, and other
PC hardware (CD R/W, scanners, RAM, etc.). We are looking for a consultant who
can follow instructions without contest, someone who is reliable, dependable,
professional, and detail oriented. This consultant should also have good
customer service, communication and coordination skills.
- Requirements:
Strong computer skills, Microsoft and A+ certifications are not required
but are a plus. Knowledge of Windows 98, 2000 and XP are important,
familiarity with Novell would be helpful.
- General Function
Using documentation and computer knowledge, is responsible for installation of
computer hardware such as; desktop, portable, printing, networking and
peripheral devices. Duties may include: minor hardware remedial maintenance,
preventive maintenance, installation, de-installation and moves of computer
equipment and related devices. May be dedicated to a customer site or
dispatched.
- Knowledge
Basic knowledge * with respect to:
- - Desktops, laptops, printers, peripherals,
networks
- - Diagnostic utilities
- - Where to find and when to apply technical
and non-technical resources
- - Safety procedures related to the
electrical, environmental and physical hazards associated with Halifax
products/services
- - Hardware configurations and setup
- Technical Skills
Under supervision able to:
- - Install manufacturers Engineering Change
Orders and Field Change Orders
- - Perform hardware installation,
de-installation, moves, adds and changes
- - Customize desktop/printer hardware to meet
user specifications and site standards
- - Check/Confirm hardware/software/firmware
levels to meet user specifications and site standards

- - Able to effectively communicate orally and
in writing technical information to non?technical audiences

procedures

- Education/Certifications:
- High School/Certificate Course/ITI/Diploma
degree or Higher
- A+ Certification will be an advantage
- OEM certifications (minor) for warranty
supported products will be an advantage
- Other:
- 1-2 yrs industry experience (Fresher may
also apply)
- Attention to detail / following process and
procedures MUST
- High integrity
- Able to travel
- Possess means of transportation Able to work
"on-call", overtime
- Able to lift greater than 20 Kg
- Security and Drug Background checks
*Limited knowledge of theory or concepts. The ability to apply skills in
routine, limited difficulty situations
